I believe that an empathic approach both empowers and motivates the client in the therapeutic process. Understanding that a diagnosis translates to a different way of processing and interacting with the world around you, I believe that self-acceptance is the key to long-lasting personal growth and change. I have more than 13 years of experience in the developmental disability field and am skilled in teaching communication, social, life, vocational, and emotional skills using a variety of methods. I work with both children and adults and incorporate sensory integration techniques into treatment as needed.

I received the Central Illinois Business 40 Under 40 Award for my work in the disability field in 2016. I am a proud member of the Association of Play Therapy and the American Counseling Association. I am also a member of Chi Sigma Iota, an international honors society that acknowledges and supports excellence in Professional Counseling.  I graduated from the University of Illinois Springfield with a degree in Human Development Clinical Counseling.

I have experience working with individuals with:

  • Autism (ASD)

  • ADHD
